A quote to ponder:
“When we breathe correctly, we have a sufficient amount of carbon dioxide, and our breathing is quiet, controlled, and rhythmic. If we are overbreathing, our breathing is heavy, more intense, and erratic, and we exhale too much carbon dioxide, leaving our body literally gasping for oxygen.” -Patrick Mckeown "The Oxygen Advantage"
Breathing Protocol: Testing your BOLT Score
BOLT stands for (Body Oxygen Level Test) and measures how much carbon dioxide we can accumulate while oxygen concentrations lower.
To test your BOLT score: take 3-5 normal breaths (through the nose), hold your breath on your final breath until you get the first urge to breathe again. The first inkling to breathe. This length of time is your BOLT score. We're aiming for 40 seconds and above, (most people will be around 20 seconds). Keep coming back to this to improve your time.
A song that has made an impact on my week:
Energy Follows Thought - Willie Nelson. This song has a great message that I think we often forget. Tony Robbins said it best "Where your focus goes, energy flows".

Weekly Wellness Tip:
Mouth taping. While you sleep you should be breathing through your nose. Your performance shouldn't just be while you are awake, I believe it's possible to have high performance sleep too. I have been placing athletic tape over my mouth while I sleep for 5 months and my sleep has never been better. It will stop you from waking up to get a drink of water because of your dry mouth. You will sleep deeper, and won't wake up your partner with your snoring. Benefits may include: better sleep, better oral health, stops snoring, bolsters your immune system, helps lower blood pressure, and brings more productive, rested mornings.
