I recently started re-reading Marcus Aurelius' 'Meditations' as it was on my kindle, and how profound a quote. It makes me think about why we get up each weekday morning to spend a few minutes together unplugged from the rest of the world and connected with our bodies, our breath, and our thoughts.

Breathing Protocol to test: Apnea Exploration, push your body's comfortability with co2 tolerance, and increase your ability to withstand breath holds.

Apnea 1: 

1.) Inhale for 6 seconds

2.) Hold for 12 seconds 

3.) Exhale for 6 seconds

Explore the sensations that come up for you as are holding your breath. Write down some notes on what you noticed were the easy parts and what were the harder parts of the protocol. Try it a few times and see if anything changes with practice.

This podcast had a ton of wisdom and learning packed into it, and if you also enjoy the very approachable scientific podcasts from Dr. Andrew Huberman then you'll surely enjoy this one too. Very interesting as it breaks down a lot of the science behind breathing and its impact on the brain and body.

Wellness Tip: Get a full panel of blood work done with your physician. The only true way to know what is currently going on inside the body. I recently had one done myself and while I am extremely healthy and there are a lot of positives in my blood work, there are also things I can work on. In my quest to help all people who interact with Nutrive Wellness to achieve High Performance Health, I have made it a company and personal mission to help people do that. Getting your blood work done is a large piece to that. I'll be the first to tell you, I hate needles and really don't enjoy having my blood taken out. Just do it, you'll thank me later.

Performance Breathing Session Focus:  Our focus for these next 2 weeks is "Fire Breathing" With an emphasis on bringing exercise and fatigue to the respiratory system, and gradually working up to adding more rounds of fire breathing and breath holds. As our skills develop so does our intensity.
